“Good Neighbour Kai” has various services to the community, centred around combating food insecurity & minimising food waste.
From rescuing surplus food to growing fresh produce and preparing nutritious meals, Good Neighbour helps ensure more people have access to healthy food while reducing waste across our community.

Good Neighbour’s food rescue collects food that is good enough to eat but not good enough to sell, and redistributes it to homes experiencing food insecurity largely through local community organisations.
Food comes in from a variety of sources every day, including supermarkets, distributors, food manufacturers, local markets and cafes. On average we receive about 2,500 kg of food daily. Our team then sorts, repackages and tailors the food to the specific needs of each community organisation who collect and redistribute it to the people they support.

Community meals
Rising costs are making ready-to-eat meals increasingly inaccessible. For people recovering from health challenges and older members of our community, this can make it difficult to access nutritious, convenient meals.
Our community meals programme helps address this need by preparing affordable, nutritious meals for those in need.
Working alongside health and social services, Good Neighbour provides pre-made, heat-and-eat meals that are both accessible and nourishing.

"My mum has been receiving the Good Neighbour meals and it has been a life line for her. Due to health issues she struggles to find food suitable for her to prepare and consume. Your meals were the first time in years she is motivated to eat properly!"
