Our mission
Bringing neighbours together through practical opportunities in order to help vulnerable people grow resilience and wellbeing by providing basic needs, tailored support and tools that shape futures, whanau and communities.
Good Neighbour exists because we believe the best communities are built by the people who live in them. We see a Tauranga where everyone plays a part, where generosity is shared, where no one is left to struggle alone, and where neighbours know that together they can create lasting change.
We are more than a charity delivering services. We are a movement that brings our city together. We connect people who want to help with people who need support. We bring together time, skills, resources, businesses, volunteers, and communities, creating opportunities for everyone to contribute in meaningful ways.
At the heart of everything we do is a simple belief: everyone has something to give, and everyone has something to receive. When we make space for people to know one another, share what they have, and work towards a common purpose, stronger neighbourhoods and a stronger city naturally follow.
Together, we are building a Tauranga where people don't simply live alongside one another; they care for one another. A city where everyone can play their part. A city where being a good neighbour is simply how we do life together.

Other ways we support the community
Laundry and shower unit
Good Neighbour operates a mobile laundry and shower unit. This runs in collaboration with the city’s kai providers making sure these services are located right where it is needed.
Good Neighbour contribution
Good Neighbour is equipped to mobilise large teams to support community members who are unable to access the help they need. We play an active role in supporting Civil Defence response efforts across the Western Bay of Plenty, both during emergencies and throughout recovery.
As the lead for the Household Goods & Services Cluster Group, Good Neighbour holds a key role within the BOP Group Welfare Plan, helping coordinate the delivery of essential household goods and services. With a strong focus on food, practical supplies, and hands-on support, we help ensure people affected by significant weather events and other emergencies receive the care and assistance they need.
